Skies Calling, Skies Falling – for UNDERGROUND BDW 2025
Skies Calling, Skies Falling is a collaborative work we did with Margaret Jenkins Dance Company (MJDC) in San Francisco that merges dance, film, sound, and narrative in response to roiling conditions in nature and politics. Centered on shock—physical, emotional, and intellectual—the piece explores how bodies and communities absorb disruption and search for resilience.
Through movement, Thomas Carnacki’s soundscape, and drone-filmed video by David and Hi-Jin Kang Hodge, Skies conjures a stark, post-apocalyptic terrain where gestures of resistance and transformation emerge. Aligned with UNDERGROUND BDW 2025’s creative resilience and Lessons from the Moon, the work asks how we adapt and imagine forward under extreme conditions.
Duration: 9 minutes, looping.
